Actors Improv Theater Presents Word Jazz
Inspired by Ken Nordine’s eponymous 1957 album, Word Jazz is comprised of scenes based on improvised monologues and music. Newly improvised songs and maybe even some old standards will figure into the mix. This show represents a new approach for the South’s longest-running improv group and it’s all initiated by audience suggestions.
The band is musical director Glenn Mehrbach (piano), Ricky Bloomfield (reeds), Bakru Hunsel (drums), Robbie Link (bass), and Scott Sawyer (guitar). Company director Greg Hohn is joined in the cast by Parker Bach, Hailey Brown, Juliet Kaplan, Dana Marks, and Steve Scott.
