John Abercrombie @ Sharp Nine Gallery

The Legendary John Abercrombie returns to NC

Dave says: John had a blast playing with Scott Sawyer and Co. last year and welcomed an invite again this year for 2 nights. Expect some duo’s, trios and quartets throughout the evenings.

Abercrombie has been signed for his entire career to the famous ECM Record label and has over 40 records as a leader. He is absolutely one of the most influential guitarists in jazz and its a real treat to be able to bring him in from NY. His 2012 recording with Joe Lovano/Joey Barron/Drew Gress is just incredible. One of my all time fav’s.

Rex Griffin & Scott Sawyer

aka Wrecks

(c) Teddy Denton(c) Teddy Denton

Wrecks & Scott get together for some guitar shenanigans and tomfoolery.

Rex Griffin is a native of Greensboro and has been teaching guitar and violin for over 25 years. Rex studied with guitarist Greg Hyslop and trumpeter Al Neese for many years. He has led a gypsy jazz band, the Hot Club of North Carolina, for 30 years and has played with greats like Babik Reinhardt (Django Reinhardt’s son) and Frank Vignola, to name a few.
